#23: Doong Ji - Korean Eatery @ Katong & BridalShow SneakPeak!

I'm an avid reader of food blogs and websites such as openrice.sg and hungrygowhere
So this time I was searching for an affordable place to have family dinner and
I came upon this Korean restaurant located around east coast road, near to Katong 112!

The experience was fantastic.
The ambiance is real cozy and the food was yum yum.

Interior of the Restaurant

What is Korean food without kimchi and banchan?
Doong Ji serves quite a variety of banchan, refillable once!
All was fresh! (unlike places which serve stale kimchi, irk)
The seaweed and mustard leaves were exceptionally yumz :D

Main Courses
Kimchi Soup *LOVE*

Generous amounts of ingredients! - kimchi, beancurd etc.
Healthy and Hearty

Ox-tail Soup

Seafood Pancake

HUGE and not oily!
Filled with chives, prawns, squid rings

Mackerel-Kimchi Stew

oh my gosh I absolutely loved this dish
Real generous with ingredients used
Mackerel is an oily fish and thus provides tons of health benefits
due to the omega oils
I think the content might even be higher than salmon
MUST TRY!

Apparently it the first round of ordering wasn't enough for my family and we added 2 more dishes~
....

Kimchi Pancake

A tad oily unlike the seafood version
but the taste was MMMM, the kimchi kick was definitely there

Squid Hotplate

More to sweet than spicy despite the chilies
due to the usage of traditional Korean chili paste
Squid is a lean protein hence no after-guilt!
There's also salad leaves, green chilies and garlic for you to wrap the squid with
Metabolism boosters :D

a wrap done up by my sister

Complimentary Fresh Fruits!
Haha okay la it's only 1 orange slice for each pax
but HEY. I appreciate what I'm given ^^

TOTAL BILL: $105 for 4 pax, and my family ate alot
Pretty reasonable imho
.
.
Shots with my Family

Weekends = Chill = NO MAKEUP REQUIRED YAY
cause I do apply a little during the week
gotta be presentable interning at a Bank right?
6 WEEKS DOWN  MORE TO GO

Walked down to Katong 112 after dinner
It was a really peaceful mall!
A great place to have meals on the weekends
Will head down for a meal next time :)

such a pretty xmas tree @ Katong 112
Had been quite some time since I updated my blog..

The Festive Season (xmas+ new year's) is over! boohoo
Back to reality with internship and school...

but oh wells fret not, CNY is around the corner!
Looking forward to the long weekend ~

Supermarkets have already started to sell CNY goodies
it's the time of the year for spring cleaning, shopping, stocking up food around the house
visiting friends, families whom you can't find time to meet the other times of the year
and most importantly, ahem, $$ collecting for the unmarried
The office is also giving out red packets to the staff...
AngPaos for the interns too maybe? ^^
.
Anyway I hope everyone had a jolly festive season!
because I did!
my sister and Jackie dolled up our lil xmas tree
(which is apparently balding)
kudos to them, the tree was so pretty
really added on the festive mood around the house

apparently my 1st time wrapping presents. room for improvement but A for effort? ;)
Spent Xmas Day with my lovely family!
with the exception of my mom who is abroad

dad with the shirt & shorts I got him for xmas ^^

Had a festive lunch buffet nearby at Parkroyal Hotel @ Kitchener Road
it was priced at $50++ per pax
The restuarant'a name is Spice Brasserie
mhmmm the buffet was 12-4pm and oh gosh was I stuffed...

Spice Brasserie's Japanese Section is right next to the entrance
Sashimi selections are chilled and cut on the spot upon order
the inconvenience to order instead of just grabbing is totally forgiveable

#21: it's 2013! Happy New Year to All!

Kylie here!
Just wanna wish everyone a happy 2013!
May this year be better than the last :)

Hope everyone had a great year and an enjoyable festive season!
Xmas + New year, best time of the year!! :D

2012 has been a great year for me and
I hope that opportunities will continue to open up in 2013 and that I'll have the chance to take them on~

6 New Year Resolutions for 2013

ahh the eyebags, I blame water retention
1. Be a more patient person to my family

I love my family, the most important people in my life
and I'm very grateful to be part of this family that the creator blessed me with

but I guess it's because they are your family, hence the high expectations you set for them
you expect to fit your views and standards
less room for tolerance compared to friends and strangers
hence I promise to learn patience

2. Have more time for my friends

A lot of times to avoid eating out..
(fear of what they put in the food)
I tend to find excuses to avoid such events
But this made me missed out on a lot of stuff

Most of my close friends are in university, local and abroad
It is harder to meet up now more than ever
this year, I will learn to get over this personal obstacle of mine

3. Stress less & Smile more

I confess, I stress alot alot alot
about what I eat, look, grades, everything
I like to plan my day's schedule beforehand and make sure that everything falls exactly and perfectly
calling for reservations or booking movie tickets just to get the best seats
and if things seem to somehow fall out of place, I get really upset

Although, planning beforehand isn't necessarily bad,
at least, I'll learn to be more flexible and to enjoy the time spent with my loved ones
and most importantly, SMILE regardless of how everything went

4. Get into a good university and study hard

deciding over SMU, NUS or going abroad...
studying abroad will definitely widen my perspectives and let myself become a more independent person
but the school fees are really expensive man

not that my family is financially weak but it might not be worth it overall
if the uni abroad is not 'better' than the local ones...
and the world doesn't only revolve around me...
I don't want to be too much of a financial burden to my family
I need some guidance on this, anyone?

6. Learn to trust, starting foremost with myself

Although the weight may have been lost,
I still struggle with esteem issues time to time and
failing to give myself any room for slack regarding the foods I eat
but things have definitely improved and I'll continue to learn on letting myself indulge
After all, what is life without indulgence right?
.
.
haha I found this on some fb page
*disclaimer* i don't own this!!
so lets cheers to a better 2013 together!
Happiness is key to a healthy life too.
Let's do it together everyone!

Love, Kylie
