#51: Getting yourself ready for the Holidays Step 1 - Sparkly Nails~ Manicure at Quiche Nail Spa

shimmery shimmery
it's the time of the year to go all out with the sparkles
and being able to get away with it without getting judged as a bimbo
Had my pretty manicure done at Quiche Nail Spa at Marina Square

I truly love this little nail parlour
absolutely feel like a princess each time I'm there
massaging chairs, friendly staff, complimentary tea and chocolates
they have 3 branches!
Marina Square, Harbourfront Centre and the newest outlet at Plaza Singapura
so if you have yet to get your nails done for this holiday
please hurry and go pamper yourself!
bring along your boyfriends to give him a treat to the refreshing foot spas too
at the same time get rid of his foot odour and dead skin x)

GO TEAM SPARKLES

#50: Happy Birthday December Babies. Buffet Lunch at Carousel, Royal Plaza Hotel on Scotts Road

My dad's birthday and mine fall just 3 days apart
so each year we just sort of combine it into a single celebration

to me, effort is definitely more valuable than monetary means anytime
especially when it comes to birthday presents for your loved ones
to thank my dad for all the delicious meals he cooked for me each weekend I'm home from school
I too decided to cook him something nice on his birthday

TADAA

sort of burnt the first toast TOTALLY BLACK #fail
but the 2nd one turned perfect and crunchy!
used multi-grain bread, made 2 heart cutouts and cracked an egg to fill it up
with chopped tomatoes, ham and sauteed mushrooms with onions as accompaniment
trying to make it sound all fancy. but my dad said it was tasty nevertheless
hopefully he's being honest

made a beef stew that's been on the stove for 3 hours
a really soupy stew though
added paprika which gave it an amazing sourish sweet tangy taste
lots of onions and carrots for the sweetness
white wine and beef stock to get the umami-mmm
and used topside of beef because it is really lean
imho, it was really delicious and healthy at the same time
guilt-less pleasures

there was steamed crab specially flown from shanghai!
it was still alive and kicking when it arrived
but then it went into the steamer soon after oops sorry

ended this birthday week with a splendid meal at Carousel
one of the best buffet restaurants, located at Royal Plaza Hotel on Scotts Road
this place is totally hard to get seats so please reserve beforehand on their website WEEKS ahead
I reserved 2 months prior to this weekend. talk about kiasu-ness!
you can reserve at www.carouselbuffet.com.sg

it was truly worth the wait! food was amazing and the service too!
plates were cleared and drinks refilled efficiently

this is what I came for..
WHOLE BAKED SALMON. lovessssssssss
okay not forgetting this as well..
THICK SASHIMI GOODNESS.

Carousel serves a wide variety of international cuisine
Japanese, Teppanyaki, Mediterranean, Indian curries, Local delicacies
ohhhh and their dessert counter!!
there was 3 chocolate fondues, milk chocolate, strawberry and green-tea flavours
and lots of pretty cakes too for the sweet lovers
you can also check our their menu to prep yourself -> Menu-Description

some shots from that day.

There was quite a few birthday celebrations going around
and the restaurant gave complimentary birthday cupcakes to everyone
they even played a song and the staff stood in a row and danced!! :0
wow now that's called customer-dedication

It was truly an enjoyable meal for me and my family :)
Thank you Carousel Restaurant for the sponsored treat!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all the December babies!
may every year be better than the last.

#49: Morgan's outing @ Medz, Orchard Central

Exams have ended and thus it's also the official start of our 5 week break!
It's been a tough first semester and I'm glad everyone held through
5 weeks is too short to fret over how we had done for the exams so let's just let loose and have fun!

Morgan decided to pop by Medz @ Orchard Central B2 for dinner
We reserved a table for 25 and had an entire area just to ourselves
awesomeee

Medz serves Mediterranean, Italian, Greek cuisine and follows the Marche-style system
where you will be given a card at the door, place orders with it at the live stations and pay on the way out

Dishes ordered:
lamb kebab
rosti

I ordered grilled seabass with braised aubergine (eggplant!) and it was DELICIOUS
but the photo I have of it does not do it justice :\
the truffle fries was really tasty too!

and it seems like there's another agenda besides eating our hearts out today...

BIRTHDAY SURPRISES

awww thanks morgan :')
and belated happy birthday to my fellow morgans Sam and Mingzhen!

birthday babies making the most of their precious once a year chance for wishes

want to end this post by giving thanks to Morgan
for being such a great fun family to have while we camp 3 months at the ulu west of Singapore
5 days a week without family is really a challenge for me #homelygirlistrying

Greetings to everyone else too!
It's the season of giving thanks and I hope everyone is making the most out of it yeah :)
I hope to meet as many old friends as possible during this period too before I fly off for my overseas trip :P

#48: MGP's new collection is out! & quick life update!

During revision week,
I took a day off mugging to work with MGPLabel aka My Glamour Place
just in time for some much needed fresh air too

I was really amazed by the quality of their clothes! *cross my heart, really*
Apparently the manufacturer for MGP is same as Zara's
so really, I was pretty impressed

And the dresses were really pretty too!
led to lots of internal conflict when they offered me to pick a dress I would like to bring home
So just want to share a few of the pretty clothes in their new collections :>
do go to their website and check the rest of the collection out!

or you can follow their fb page too^

really love the colours of the middle one! perfect for girl dates
or even couple dates for the lucky ones in love :)

and if you ran out of dresses for the end of year parties coming up...
totally digging the yellow one, really wanted to get that but I chose another in the end
sometimes when life throws you too many choices is quite a headache too
#girlpains
hope I managed to help the girls out there who wants to stock up their closet for
xmas, new year and even cny! ^^

and right...btw

9 MORE DAYS TILL END OF EXAMS.
CAN'T WAIT.
First exam at NBS 22.11.2013 - me and my morgan family from Group B <3
the rest of Group B during our lecture on a SATURDAY
p.s. NBS takes really good care of its students. the ever dependable ABC
i.e. Accountancy & Business Club, a student-run council that looks after the entire NBS students
Gave out Welfare Packs!! Teehee
As ever kiasu Singaporeans, the queue was really long as everyone went to grab for theirs

morgan even made exclusive welfare packs for each one of us in the morgan family, so touched :')

gotta.go.back.and.mug.now.
Really hope that my efforts produce results, but the bell curve is really scary :<

Till, next time! Take care and stay happy :)

#47 - Newpaper New Face Finals 2013

Time really speeds up as you get older
Around the same period last year, I had my moment of glam on the very same stage at Takashimaya
Life has definitely changed pretty much since then

Managed to get modelling jobs then I never believed I could
Met lots of new fabulous people
Received sweet supportive emails, Thanks I really do appreciate them
(been trying really hard to reply each one but my busy schedule lately just prevents me from doing so sorry!!)
On a whole, I grew as a person
Much more confident than the past
Believing in myself a lot more that I'm able to accomplish seemingly impossible tasks
More courageous and willing to create opportunities for myself
Thanks to Newpaper New Face :)

Though sometimes I really wish I could go through the same journey again
but....gosh other times I'm just glad it's over, being judged is really scary ^^
Now that I'm part of the new New Face Alumni I can return and watch the new batches competing
Looking them walk the stage, going through what we've been through is really nostalgic

ahhh the stage like how i remembered it to be :)
before the show started: sherena, jayley, shine, me, hosin
woohoo Sharin, winner for my 2012 batch, starting the show!!
she looked AMAZING. can't expect anything less ^^
Hossan Leong was the host for this year!
Talented guy really, a treasure in the entertainment industry
Really gotta salute him for being able to grab and entertain everyone throughout the entire night
though being only an one-man act
Theme for this year is Playhouse!
Jade (1st runner-up 2013) walks the stage. this girl is gorgeous. early favorite of mine
Male models and MAGICIANS.
the singer was really good!
p.s. check out the male models' shoes. seriously breaking bones and boundaries *applause*
GUESS WHAT
they invited kid models this year too to walk the last lap with the finalists
sooo cuteeeeeee
Jade

rocking the afro-do with her little counterpart
and yes the afro girl was the eventual winner for 2013!!
Congrats to all the finalists :)
The night was awesome.
Finally had a breather after all the mugging during the week
Needed a break. Needed social interaction. #thankful

with my 2012 girls: wynne, me, hosin, charmaine, audrey, nadia
officially old faces now. I'll never forget this bunch of lovely ladies <3
And with this, our reign is really over.
till today, I'm still thankful for everything that happened
the chance, opportunities, opened doors, friends
#neverbeforgotten
life will only get better if you put in effort to pursue your dreams
whether you achieve the dream or not is only secondary though
cheesy but really, it's about the journey, what you learnt out of it and how you grow as a person

read this phrase off somewhere earlier this week:
"it's not how much you make or where you live that makes you happy , its how you live"

so don't be afraid of failures everyone.
no one's journey is entirely smooth.
hang in there. be optimistic. cherish every minute.

L.O.L, Kylie Y.

p.s. it's 3.27am now. finally finished the report for a marketing group project due 8am not long ago
really this is uni life. haha I don't hate it actually.
the stress and workload are a bother but I'm quite enjoying it at the same time.
mugging through the night with my project mates definitely makes it easier
hang in there fellow struggling students. we're all in this together. :)
